Aunt Alice Ocean Chardonnay is a vibrant cool-climate Chardonnay from Tasmania that balances fruit purity with textural depth. It showcases citrus and stone fruit lifted by fine acidity and subtle oak support. The multi-site blend brings fresh acid from Huon Valley, melon and peach from Derwent Valley, and lemony lift from Coal River Valley, all fermented on lees to build weight without heaviness. A modest malolactic fermentation adds a creamy texture, while wild yeasts and gentle oak ageing allow the wine’s terroir and freshness to shine.

Why you'll love me

If you love Chardonnay with bright, detailed fruit and a balance of texture and freshness, Ocean hits that sweet spot. It’s refreshing and elegant yet nuanced enough to enjoy on its own or paired with food, making it a versatile choice for both casual sipping and special occasions.

Location: Tasmania, Australia; a blend of cool-climate vineyards including Huon Valley, Derwent Valley and Coal River Valley.
Winemaking / Farming techniques: Hand-picked fruit is whole-bunch pressed and wild fermented in French oak barrels (≈ 10–15 % new, balance seasoned), then aged ~9–12 months on lees. Around one-third malolactic fermentation imparts texture and richness. Minimal intervention, unfined and lightly filtered.
Style / Body: Medium-bodied, bright and textural with lively acidity balanced by gentle oak influence and a creamy mouthfeel.
Notes: Lifted citrus blossom, white peach and nectarine aromas lead, followed by lemon zest and hints of sea spray minerality. Subtle almond meal, creaminess and light spice add richness, while the palate is crisp and refreshing with a clean finish.
Descriptors: Citrus blossom · Lemon zest · White peach · Nectarine · Almond meal · Creamy lees · Sea spray minerality · Bright acidity · Textured finish
Pairing Suggestions: Oysters with lemon, steamed shellfish, grilled white fish, roast chicken with herbs, creamy pasta or mild cheeses like brie or comté, the wine’s brightness and texture make it incredibly food-friendly.
